Bad Days

Sometimes the world seems so sad, so unfair, so scary,

It is hard to see something good; we only see horror and suffering.

We see people being massacred in all possible manners,

Like their lives had no value, and it was allowed to kill them.

Each moment, we observe more and more injustices cumulating,

We see how justice is perverted, in a severe process of rotting.

Those who should make justice only think of profit and self-benefit,

They do not dictate fair sentences; they are putting people in torment.

Everyone perishes at the mercy of unworthy, corrupt, and criminal authorities,

And because of it, the life of everyone gets hard, suffering many penalties.

Until when can we stand and live arrested in these oppressed lives?

How can we stand in this chaotic world without good vibes?

It seems there is nothing we can do to change the situation,

It seems everything is lost, and no fight will generate transformation.

We cannot lose hope, even in the middle of too many terrible things,

We must believe in better days; more fair days are coming.

These days will not happen because of someone’s will or kindness,

Those days will come because of That One who has great goodness.

Because even if the days are of densest and great darkness,

God’s light shines more than a thousand suns and changes all unfairness.

Mary and Elizabeth

Mary never asked to be adored,

She only fulfilled the mission she was given by the Lord.

Mary carried the Son of the Living God,

She was the chosen one to be the mother of Christ.

God chose Mary to exalt Himself,

Demonstrating the miracle, He would perform for all of us.

Fulfilling what was said before as prophecy,

That from a virgin woman, the Savior would come, gracefully.

Almost at the same time, another miracle happened,

Mary’s cousin, Elizabeth, also conceived.

This pregnancy was decreed by the Lord,

John the Baptist, the great preacher, would be born.

In two women, the Lord performed the miracle,

Both recognized his power and goodness.

Even though they were so richly blessed,

Neither of them asked to be exalted.

They always knew they were instruments,

It would not be made for them any monument.

Their focus was to do the will of the Lord,

Educating and raising humanly, the Savior.

At the right time, the two children were born,

They both grew up with their mothers.

Jesus and John the Baptist knew their mission,

In this world, they would bring a new conversion.

The mothers of the two were no longer mentioned,

Being understood that they should not be worshiped.

They fulfilled their role before the Lord,

The glory, and all the praise, they gave to God.

A Plea to God

Oh, God! I want to submit to your will and path,

Write in my heart the Word of truth.

Speak to me, show me the way I should always follow,

Give me strength, Father, then I always stand up.

May I follow only the truth, without ever giving up.

The path is arduous, and I want to always trust in You,

Your Word always gives me the strength to believe in You.

Oh, God! Help me to have the strength to always seek You,

Hold my hand so that I do not become discouraged or fall,

I will never stray because, your path, I want to follow.

Every day, there are things trying to oppress me,

It could be words or ideas, all to delay me.

Many times, the mistakes are inside the House of God,

Because many people run away from your holy Word.

Help me, Lord, to flee from all kinds of heresy,

May I always have a great love for the Bible, unceasingly.

Oh, God! Give me strength to worship your name,

May your Holy Spirit show me how to praise.

A pure and sincere adoration to please You.

Pride

Some people only think about exalting themselves,

They want to be above someone else.

They are people who live in self-exhibition,

Things better than others are their ambition.

This whole desire is not to improve their life,

The person only wants to show off and thrive,

They see someone with something and want the best,

They see someone superior and want to be the biggest.

The person wants to have and be more in all situations,

Only superiority can generate their satisfaction.

They are blind in all their presumption,

This mad pride generates heart contamination.

This wicked pride makes them desire everything,

They want to conquer all things they see.

About their life, many evils this desire will bring,

Because at any cost, they want to elevate themselves.

They do not care if they are harming someone else.

The person has forgotten all humility,

The pride is fixed on them wholeheartedly.

The evil superiority has already grown,

Even God was forgotten by that person.

Before the Lord, they cannot be prostrating,

Because they get used to being elevated.

They no longer know the meaning of submission,

About inferiority, they have no notion.

This person needs big liberation,

Taking off all their presumptions.

Stopping all the exaggerated pride in themselves,

And before the Lord, they must humble themselves.

Understanding that life is not only conquering,

Learning the humble ones, by God, will be exalted,

And the exalted ones, by Him, will be humiliated.

Naaman

Naaman was a worthy man,

He was respected in the whole land.

He was a brave war hero,

He won many battles for his master’s kingdom.

But he had the great affliction,

He had an illness that was seen as a curse.

He carried in his body leprosy.

At that time, it was a terrible thing.

Go to Elisha, his servant said to him,

He is a prophet, and God’s power is on him.

To the lands of Israel, he traveled.

The prophet Elisha, he has visited.

Naaman was not received as he hoped,

For him, the prophet did not even go out home.

A message was given through his servant,

Saying what should be done for the cure of Naaman.

In the dirty Jordan River, he would dive seven times,

Then that terrible leprosy would leave his life.

This order, he did not accept in the beginning,

But his servant has convinced him.

In the Jordan River, Naaman washed himself,

From all leprosy, he purified himself.

The power of God, Naaman has recognized,

A gift for the prophet, he has offered.

Elisha did not accept anything,

The Lord was the only one who pleased him.

Naaman said he was converted,

From all his bad ways, he regretted it.

He would serve only the Living God.
